In 1898 the Parish registers from St Edmund’s church were published in a limited edition book. These covered baptisms, marriages and burials between the years 1580 and 1792. As well as villagers from Walesby there are also people from Willoughby, Haughton and Boughton mentioned in the record.
It was made a requirement for all parishes to keep these records during the reign of Elizabeth I and they are kept at the Public records Office. Ones for Nottinghamshire are also kept by the County Council Archive department. From 1841 the nationwide Census was also introduced though Parish registers were also continued.
